EVENT

Multiple experiments
in music exploration

1991 - ?

Event was formed in 1991, as an extension of my niteclub DJ'ing, and my encounter with a highly skilled one-man-band, who introduced me to the concept of MIDI and using the computer to orchestrate completed music on one's own. As a guitar player, I slowly plowed into learning keyboards, but the nice thing is that the initial lack of keyboard technique can be compensated by post-editing and computer manipulation..

Event is basically me, working with who ever I may find who is interested, and doing a WIDE range of musical styles. Pieces of my music have been used in independent film scores, PBS specials, and released throughout Europe, and cover dark-techno-dance music to avant garde classical.

1991 saw a vinyl release, featuring Sequin, Icepick and No Time, which had significant sales overseas. (copies are still available by request) Since then I have remastered these plus some other tracks onto a CD that is available by request for a measly $5 US or the trade of some cool new music which I am always looking for  (contact event@fes-net.com).  Unfortunately the past few years have not been very prolific musically for me as I had been in the chains of completing a Ph.D. in Biophysics, then that dreaded "get a job and be productive with your life, son" thing, then mwarraige, buying a house, mowing a lawn and living that suburban hell I swore never to embrace...but I am continuing to dabble in the musical arts and now working on more techno type stuff....

"Sinister industrial-dance blitz races over a pounding shotgun bottom that supports intriguingly eerie synth pulses.  Dark, haunting whispers conspire with a clandestine postpunk vocal arrangement, one that should blow a few minds in the wee hours of the night. For additional headgames flip to the "No Time" remix on side B."

Overview of Studio Equipment

Most of my recording is done in my basement. For now I will present a simple list of equipment, in the future will be more detailed information.  My basic philosophy is that you don't need hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of equipment to achieve quality sound.  My setup is pretty minimal but it is how you use it that is important.
